About Me

Hair Is Identity

A personal journey from Kenya to Canada built through passion, practice, and a deep love for locs and natural hair.

My Journey

From Necessity to Calling

Age 9

Kenya

Learning Out of Necessity

I started boarding school in Kenya. Like many young girls away from home, I had to learn how to care for my own hair. What began as a necessity quickly became a skill. I learned to braid my own hair, then began helping classmates with theirs.

Teenage

Practice

Building Confidence

Throughout high school, I continued developing my abilities, practicing different styles and gaining confidence in working with a variety of hair textures and techniques. My passion grew alongside evolving trends which I learned through hands-on experience, helping friends, family, and my community maintain healthy, beautiful hair.

Before Canada

Discovery

Falling for Locs

I became fascinated with locs. I loved the idea of wearing them but wanted a more versatile, refined look than traditional-sized locs. Through extensive research, I discovered microlocs and Sisterlocks, and eventually installed microlocs on my own hair, believing they'd be practical and beautiful, especially while living abroad.

Training

Profession

Becoming a Loctician

My personal journey with microlocs inspired me to pursue professional training. I completed specialized training and refined my skills working alongside experienced professionals in salons specializing in locs and natural hair care.

Today

Purpose

Helping Others Begin Theirs

I specialize in microlocs, Sisterlocks-inspired installations, loc maintenance, retightening, and natural hair care; with over five years working with locs and many more in braiding and natural hair styling.
